Super interesting thread. Thought I’d jump in too. I’ve never wanted children or marriage in my life. I prefer a career. But, since I’m a woman, most people think there is something wrong with me for having that opinion. They say I’m bitter or just give me a look of complete bafflement, as if a woman not wanting a child was beyond imagining. The worst is ‘Just wait, you’ll change your mind.’ If I had a dollar for every time an older woman has told me that, I wouldn’t even need a career cuz I’d be independently wealthy. I tell them I am not going to change my mind, but they don’t believe me. Why are men allowed to choose career over family and be respected, but if a woman does it, there is something wrong with her.

So this is the sound that’s coming from inside the walls of my closet in the computer room. They are freaking me out. This wall is shared by the laundry machines, and I assume all the other apartments have the same layout. So for now I’m pretending it’s the people above or below me doing their wash that’s maybe causing it.
Because the other options are the building is about to fall down around my ears or we have a ghost, and I could not deal with either.
Sometimes the sounds overlap each other. They don’t happen all day, but when they start they go for a while.
Sounds like the regular creaking of an old house. Though, if you live in an apt instead of an old house… a bit odd, but probably not worrying. Most ghosts are friendly anyway, right? In my bfs apt, the kitchen lights randomly turn off and on, and the bedroom door sometimes closes itself without any breeze. This alarmed me at first, but the ghost doesn’t seem to want to bother us any further. It’s probably just having a little fun.

Yep, this is real. Many people in the US are really this unaware of the government policies of our neighboring countries. A friend of mine recently ran into one of these people ranting on the street, and told him that healthcare is socialized in Canada. He was, of course, prepared to run for it after, as most of these ignorant people also love fighting.
